Whave decided to adopt a story, because the land that forged it has, at some time, sheltered us in its lap. Previously named Santa María de las Parras, this land was vitalized by the dream of some Jesuits who, in 1597, began to formally cultivate life. For them it was indispensable to have wine as part of their cultural and religious celebrations. However, the kindness of these lands led them to extraordinary results in the quality of their harvests and, as a consequence, in their wines. An ideal climate, moderate in its extremes, as well as the right amount of rain and the brightness of a sun that seems to caress these valleys, created the optimum conditions so that the harvests would be richer and of a greater quality.
The wines from Parras arrived to Spain when the natural flow of commerce was back to front, in view of the threat of great wines being produced in Mexico. In 1699 the king of Spain, Felipe II, prohibited the cultivation of grapevines and the production of such magnificent wines with the purpose of protecting the exports of Spanish wine to our country. However, with new grafts and the cultivation of different varieties, quality continued to grow.
With the passing of the centuries, the heart of these lands seems to explode with the anxiety to share the quality of its fruit, and what man learnt to make with it, with the world: the wines, nectars of proven quality that in these times must face up to stately structures of production and commercialization. At Finca y Viñedas Buena Fe we do a lot more than harvest grapes and give life to great wines, we work conscious of the fact that there are much more valuable reasons to make things with care and passion. As a family, we find a harmonious space in our heart and project it towards the environment that surrounds us. The Parras de la Fuente Valley has given us great satisfaction and we have decided to give back to this ancestral Jesuit refuge and to the beautiful valley that wraps it up, a little of the warmth that was unconditionally given to us. A magical town of noble people that do a lot and deserve more, a fertile land thirsty for dreams and realities that are a good enough reason to believe and grow in it.
The story has been written in these furrows of land and has inherited the oldest viticulture tradition of the American continent. Since 1592 this town has been the cradle for the highest quality wines and that obliges us to fulfill the expectations of our consumer with excellence. The latest technological advances in the elaboration processes and the passion with which everyone works in Finca y Viñedos Buena Fe everyday are the ideal medium to house years of culture and viticultural reputation, which are translated into a wine especially elaborated to satisfy those who know how to enjoy fine dining.
Part of our devotion to excellence lies in finding the human talent that can manage to make culture, science, and tradition the protagonists in our elaboration processes. It is in this way that our family is enriched with technicians, oenologists and laborers, committed people who share visions, people that although separated by letters and abilities, are united by a common objective and the fundamental values that allow them to work
shoulder to shoulder in order to give life to a great wine.
Finca y Viñedos Buena Fe has already got a first born amongst its children, an heir to a story of centuries, who, like all young people, manifests its rebelliousness by conquering the palate of its own as well as strangers: the red wine Rivero González. Bearer of our name and commitment is proof of the fact that the grapes from the Parras Valley are in reality noble drops of tradition. From our first harvest sown in 1998, a
Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc varietal, a careful process and long months of rest enclosed in oak walls, built a year 2002 wine of strong and defined color, where the Cabernet Sauvignon made a presence and turned out to be subtly fruity to taste.
We tried hard, we went to the limits controlling quality, respecting the methods, we were patient in its transformation and devoted to our commitment. We numbered the 3,466 bottles and wrote a dedication to each one that while not written in ink, can be found in the luminosity, transparency and exquisite flavor of each.
We are on the verge of releasing the 2005 which promises even more than its predecessors, each harvest has its own personality, but a distinctive seal that is now forging a distinguished position in the taste of those who have honored us with a warm welcome at their table.
For that, those who do us the honor of serving the red wine Rivero González, know that in addition to being a perfect partner for their food, it is the most authentic manifestation of love for things well done. For our part, we recognize that those who honor us with their preference, more than just a consumer, is a great friend of Parras, they are good people who like to fill their hearts with happiness, they are people who find a new way to continue forging the nobility and distinction of the Mexican family with each glass.
